We filed an RTI on 22 Sep 2011 with the Customs, Excise and Service Tax department. I give below the details of the RTI that we filed.

1. Number of rebate claims filed by the exporters under Rule 18 of the Central Excise Rules, 2002 for the period 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12 upto August, 2011.

 

2. Number of refund claims filed by the exporters, under Rule 5 of the Cenvat Credit Rules, 2004 for the period 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12 upto August, 2011.

 

3.  Number of refund claims filed under Section 11B other than exporters for the period 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12.

 

4. Number of claims sanctioned within three months as per Section 11 B of the Central Excise Act, 1944.

 

5. Number of claims sanctioned beyond the period of three months.

 

6.  Number of claims for which interest has been given for the belated sanctioning of refund.

 

7.  Amount of interest given, as per Board’s Circular 268/51/2002-CX-8 dated 1.10.2002.

 

8. Whether given from the Government Account or recovered from the Officers, who are responsible for the delay and details of disciplinary proceedings initiated against them.

 

9.  Number of cases, which are disposed off as per the guidelines given in the Board’s Circular 828/5/2006-CX dated 20.4.2006. 

 

10. Number of cases still pending beyond the period of three months without issue of deficiency memos/show cause notice.

 

11. Number of cases for which deficiency memos were issued after three months from the date of claim, after 6 months from the date of claim, after 9 months from the date of claim and after one year from the date of claim.    

 

12.  Number of cases for which the show cause notices was issued after three months from the date of claim, after 6 months from the date of claim, after 9 months from the date of claim and after one year from the date of claim.   

 

12.   Details of disciplinary action initiated against those erring officers, who have not discharged their responsibilities as per Board’s Circular 828/5/2006-CX dated 20.4.2006, 268/51/2002-CX-8 dated 1.10.2002 and 130/41/95-CX dated 30.5.1995.   

 

 

 

3.                 I state that the information sought does not fall within the restrictions contained in Sections 8 and 9 of the Act and to the best of my knowledge it pertains to your office.

 

4.                 This is to certify that I, R. Shanthakumar, am a citizen of India. I have enclosed my Voter ID card copy as a proof of the same.

 

5.                 A fee of Rs.10/- has been paid towards Indian Postal Order in favour of “Pay and Accounts Officer, Central Excise, Coimbatore”. The Postal order is enclosed.
